Kesmonds International University is governed through two principal decision-making bodies the Council and the Senate supported by a central administrative structure, schools, institutes, national and international directors, and technical advisers.
How KIU is Governed
The Council is the University’s supreme governing body, responsible for strategic direction, policy, finance and assets. The Senate is the highest academic body, responsible for academic policy, academic work and standards.

The Governing Council serves as the executive body responsible for overall management, strategic planning, financial oversight, policy development and monitoring institutional performance.
UNIVERSITY SENATE
Academic Policy, Standards & Research
The Senate is the academic body responsible for educational policy, curriculum, research oversight, academic standards, quality assurance and the coordination of academic matters across faculties, schools and institutes.
The Governing Council
The Council is the University’s executive governance body and oversees the institution’s general affairs, long-term direction, resources and accountability.

The Council is primarily governed by the Chairperson, who coordinates reports from the Council President. Council committees report to the Council President.
Acts as the primary executive body of the University and manages the general affairs of the institution.
Responsible for setting the University’s overall direction and vision.
Oversees budgeting, resource allocation and financial reporting.
Develops and approves policies governing University operations.
Monitors progress toward institutional goals and objectives.
Monitors the University’s accountability system and employee remuneration.
The University Senate
The Senate serves as KIU’s academic body and the Senate of the University’s faculties, schools and institutes. It focuses on academic policy, curriculum, standards, quality assurance and research.
Primarily focused on academic matters within the University.
Develops and oversees academic policies, curriculum and standards.
Reviews and approves changes to the curriculum and academic programmes.
Promotes and oversees research activities and research institutions.
Ensures University academic standards are maintained and upheld.
Supports accountability across structures and departments and the recruitment of new members.
Coordinates and oversees student tuition and recruitment.
Ensures programmes and projects are communicated in a timely and professional manner.
Oversees industrial attachment and the connection between theory and practice.
