SUMMARY:The Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health
DESCRIPTION:Dear Kesmonds International University\, \nThe Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health https://genderandhealthcommission.org/ in partnership with the Activist Education & Development Centre\, The Rev. M.S. Lugongolo Foundation\, Young Women’s Leadership Institute http://aedc.org.za/\, and Zamara Foundation https://zamarafoundation.org/co-present Grassroots Activism at the Intersection of Gender and Health – coming to you live this Thursday the 27th\, 8-9AM UTC. \nDespite significant strides within the realm of gender and health\, recent events have proven that progress is not only at risk of stalling\, but of being undone entirely. Current models of working\, be they siloed\, top-down\, or otherwise exclusive\, are not fit for purpose and must be reconsidered. Against this backdrop\, the call to heed contextual factors has been renewed\, and reinvigorated by conversations looking beyond 2030 which remind us that change must be led by and work for the next generation(s). This webinar seeks to not just platform\, but center\, the crucial youth voices which are all too often silenced or sidelined in conversations about the change we need\, promising practices emerging from the work of community-based organisations\, and potential ways forward for a better future in gender and health. \nThis one-hour conversation will feature the Activist Education & Development Centre\, The Rev. M.S. Lugongolo Foundation\, Young Women’s Leadership Institute\, and Zamara Foundation\, all of which are youth-led feminist organisations driving change at the local and national levels in Kenya and South Africa. Together\, they comprise the four Changemakers which have engaged in a journey of mutual learning with the Commission over the past nine months\, shedding light on new ideas for and pathways to change at the intersection of gender and health. Over the course of this one-hour conversation moderated by Secretariat lead Emma Rhule\, our partners will explore discussion topics relevant to their next steps both individually as organisations and collectively as a movement. The four organisations will be represented by: \nJessica Booysen\, Mentor – Activist Education & Development Centre \nLucy Kombe\, Program Officer – Zamara Foundation \nMawande Lugongolo\, Programs Manager – The Rev. SUMMARY:WEBINAR INVITATION: In Conversation With Renu Khanna | Perspectives and Initiatives of Young People in All Their Diversity
DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleague\,  \n\n\nThe Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health in partnership with ARROW and SAHAJ co-presents Perspectives and Initiatives of Young People in All Their Diversity.  \n\n\nLeaving no one behind (LNOB) is a promise of the transformative agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means that patterns of exclusion\, structural factors\, and unequal power relations that produce and reproduce inequalities over generations have to be addressed in order to move towards formal and substantive equality for all groups in society. In addition to identifying who is being excluded or discriminated against and who is experiencing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and inequalities through improved and disaggregated data systems\, LNOB also requires meaningful participation of those ‘left behind’\, including the most marginalised\, in visualising ‘sustainable development’ and planning and review processes.  \n\n\nOne such group that must be considered amongst the ‘left behind’ is young people. With young people – adolescents aged 11 to 18 years and youth aged 15 to 24 years – accounting for one-fourth of the world’s population\, there is growing recognition of their potential as stakeholders in their own development. Meaningful engagement with factors that affect their wellbeing is considered a fundamental right of adolescents and young people. It is also being recognised that adolescents and young people are not a homogenous group. There exists within this demographic cohort young people with diverse forms of marginalisations and exclusions and diverse needs and concerns.  \n\n\nThis webinar is part of an endeavour to increase visibility surrounding the issues of excluded groups so that the global health community can begin to address these concerns. In this webinar\, we hope to hear from young people representing diverse excluded groups what their issues and concerns are\, and how policy makers and programme managers can address them.  \n\n\nRegister here to join us: https://go.unu.edu/clujo  \n\n\nOr catch the livestream: In Conversation With Renu Khanna | Perspectives and Initiatives of Young People in All Their Diversity

SUMMARY:Call for Applications: Situational Analysis Survey on Play-Based STEM Education at Basic Learning Level in Africa (Short Term Consultancy)
DESCRIPTION:Call for Applications: Situational Analysis Survey on Play-Based STEM Education at Basic Learning Level in Africa (Short Term Consultancy) \nhttps://www.adeanet.org/en/announcements/call-applications-situational-analysis-survey-play-based-stem-education-basic-learning \nThe deadline for submission of applications (Technical and Financial proposals) is Monday\, 18 July 2022\, at midnight GMT to the following address: adea-applications@afdb.org. The subject of the e-mail should be “Short Term Consultant – Situational Analysis on Play-Based STEM Education.” \nIntroduction\nAs the voice of education in Africa and a key network of Education Ministries\, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) plays a significant role in the education space as a convenor\, knowledge creator\, and forum for policy dialogue. ADEA sees its impact in African countries that are empowered to develop education and training systems that respond to their emergent needs and drive Africa’s sustainable socio-economic transformation. Two strategic pillars underpin the implementation of the ADEA Strategic Plan 2028-2022: (1) the Continental Education Platform and (2) the country-based Advisory and Execution Support Services. Both pillars are aligned to the African Union’s Continental Education Strategy for Africa 2016-2025 (CESA 16-25) and the Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Education (SDG4). \nDOWNLOAD PDF  \nNote: For On-Campus & Distance Learning Accredited Scholarships visit www.kesmonds-edu.ac
